Black Lives Matter

On February 23, 2020: Ahmaud Arbery (25) was shot and killed by three white men in Brunswick, Georgia. On March 13, 2020, Breonna Taylor (26) was shot and killed in her home in Louisville, Kentucky in a botched police raid. On May 25, 2020, Georgia Floyd (46) died in Minneapolis, Minnesota when a white police officer kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes. 

In response to these killings, protests took place throughout the spring and summer of 2020, reaching their peak on June 6, when rallies were held in 550 places across the country. Protests were also held around the world. It is estimated that between 15 and 26 million people took part in a Black Lives Matter event during those months.
